A man has been charged with the murder of a security guard following a stabbing incident at Centre:MK in Milton Keynes. Police responded to reports of a stabbing at approximately 17:10 GMT on Saturday, where they found the victim, Gary Stanley, 52, of Milton Keynes. Despite immediate life-saving efforts, Mr. Stanley was pronounced dead at the scene.
Rory Wilson, 50, of St Lawrence Road South, Towcester, Northamptonshire, has been charged with one count of murder and one count of possessing a knife in a public place. Wilson, who was previously known as Rikki Alexander Stewart, is scheduled to appear at Milton Keynes Magistrates’ Court on Monday. Thames Valley Police confirmed that no other individuals are being sought in connection with the investigation.
The police spokesperson stated that the victim’s next of kin are being supported by specially trained family liaison officers, and expressed condolences, saying, “Our thoughts remain with the family at this extremely difficult time.” The shopping centre remains closed as authorities continue their investigation.
Milton Keynes MP Emily Darlington described the incident as a shock, emphasizing that she has always regarded Centre:MK as a safe environment. She also urged the public to refrain from speculating or spreading unverified information on social media during this ongoing investigation.
